Enjoyed visiting your site. My ancestor was in the 47th North Carolina Infantry Regiment and was captured near Petersburg and spent the rest of the war as a prisoner at Hart's Island, NY. Belgium is a beautiful country and I visited there several time while stationed at Spangdahlem, Germany in 1975-1977.

Thank you for the article on Ambrose Dudley Mann. My Great (3) Aunt Fannie Ogden was married to his son William Grayson Mann. Her diary - Diary of Tour in Europe - recounts her travels with her "darling Willie" and Ambrose through Italy, Brussels and France. I have transcribed the diary (found in my Great Aunt's house in a shoe box) and accompanying letters - one from Ambrose to her mother - Sara Beattie Ogden. Is there interest in publishing them on the website? Thank you again for the additional information on Ambrose Dudley Mann. Fannie's diary entries echo his and Willie's devotion to the Confederate cause and hopes for recognition. Researching Willie's journey and life after the war - the letters he sent back to Fannie's family - paint a very interesting story...

This is a wonderful site. It is a shame though that the articles are copy protected to the point you can't even print them. I'm working with my Girl Scout troops and our chosen woman of the 1800s is Dr Mary Walker. The paper is wonderful and impossible to share with the girls. Sad since the girls are the ones that loose.

I am glad to discover this Association. My family is from Charleston, SC, and I am married to a Thys, whose father was Belgian. On our next trip to Belgium, we will try to make contact.

I'm impressed. Could you give information on Gen. Paul Juge, Commander of the European brigades in New Orleans after the occupation of the city? If any of you visit Italy, include the museum in the fortress of Civitella del Tronto where are documented the Italians who fought for the Confederate cause.

Great website! You should foresee a 15 days travel in the States with a visit of major Civil War areas like National parks, museums and  cemeteries (Gettysburg for instance). I would like to find an atlas with major battles of ACW with position of infantry, artillery and  cavalry, do you recommend one in particular ? For the rest, keep up  the good work!.
