The "European fleet of the Southern Confederacy" makes waves (June 2000)

Visit to Cherbourg in the framework of the excavations on the wreck of the CSS "Alabama". Presentation of Serge Noirsain's new book at the "Plein Ciel" bookstore during a press conference.

The CHAB in Great Britain (December 2000)

 

G. Hawkins and S. Noirsain are invited  by the American Civil War Round Table of UK to attend a conference at the Army Museum of London.

The CHAB in the United States (March 2001)

G. Hawkins and S. Noirsain's trip to Arizona, New Mexico and Charleston. Meeting with the new Honorary President of the CHAB. Private visit of the CSS "Hunley" submarine in the Warren Lasch Conservation Center.

The CHAB at Cherbourg over the wreck of the Alabama (June 2001)

Trip to Cherbourg in the framework of the excavations on the wreck of the Alabama. Four CHAB members accompany the French divers on the site of the wreck of the Confederate raider and examine the artifacts recovered.

Interview at Cherbourg by History Channel (June 2001)

 

Invited by History Channel television, the CHAB travels to Cherbourg for a filmed interview of S. Noirsain in the framework of the filming of a documentary on the CSS "Alabama".

The CHAB at the Paris Naval Academy (October 2001)

 

At the prestigious Naval Academy in Paris, S. Noirsain and G. Hawkins receive a prize for their book "The European fleet of the Southern Confederacy" published in French by the CHAB in 2000.

The CHAB in Geneva: the Alabama Claims (February 2002)

 

Viviane and Hubert Leroy visit Geneva's town hall and the room where, from 1871 to 1872, the first international arbitrage tribunal settled the dispute between the United States and Great Britain over the Alabama Claims.

The CHAB in Rotterdam (May 2002)

Visit of the Maritime Museum of Rotterdam and of the "Buffel", an ironclad of the same class as the CSS "Stonewall" built in France for the Confederacy.

CHAB cocktail in honor of the American Civil War Round Table UK (May 2002)

 

The CHAB guides the ACWRTUK  members on the Waterloo battlefield and organizes a cocktail at its Club House.

Cherbourg, official site of the American Civil War (September 2004)

Personally invited by the Mayor and authorities of Cherbourg, the CHAB took part in the official ceremony declaring Cherbourg official site of the American Civil War. Private visit of the "Cit้ de la Mer" maritime museum and of the decommissioned nuclear submarine "Le Redoutable".

The Free Press of Kinston (October 2004)

The Free Press of Kinston (North Carolina) comments on an article published in the CHAB News, about the Confederate deserters who were hanged in Kingston by General Pickett in 1864.
